Türkiye's push for electric vehicles (EVs) reached a symbolic high as both President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev received their Togg T10X electric cars. The ceremony in Ankara saw the Turkish leader officially becoming the first owner of Türkiye's indigenous EV, and he proudly announced Aliyev's acquisition on Twitter.

Anadolu Color Unites Leaders

The fully electric C-segment SUVs, donned in the distinctive "Anadolu" color, symbolizing the sincerity and passion of Anatolian lands, marked a milestone in the nation's automotive dreams. Erdoğan emphasized the significance, stating, "Together, we are witnessing the realization of our nation's 60-year dream today.

Overwhelming Demand and Digital Draw

Demand for the T10X soared as over 177,400 preorders flooded in within 21 days, prompting the carmaker to increase the production units from 12,000 to 20,000. The selection process for the initial batch involved a digital draw, and deliveries are set to commence in the coming days, making the EV a common sight on Türkiye's roads.

Togg's Vision: Beyond the T10X

Togg, a consortium of five Turkish companies, spearheaded by the Automobile Initiative Group of Türkiye, is not stopping with the T10X. The consortium, in collaboration with the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), plans to produce four additional models—a sedan, C-hatchback, B-SUV, and B-MPV—by 2030.

The current production capacity of around 100,000 vehicles per year is poised to rise to 175,000 with the Gemlik district factory in Bursa at full tilt. Togg envisions manufacturing one million vehicles across the five segments by 2030, further solidifying Türkiye's position in the global EV landscape.

Beyond its symbolic and nationalistic significance, the Togg T10X embodies technological prowess. Launched in late October, the fully electric SUV boasts cutting-edge features, including two battery options—52.4 and 88.5 kilowatt-hours—providing impressive ranges of 314 and 523 kilometers, respectively.

The T10X's acceleration from zero to 100 kph in 7.6 seconds for the initial version and 4.8 seconds for the upgraded model showcases Türkiye's commitment to not just EV adoption but also performance and innovation.

Türkiye's Economic Vision on Wheels

President Erdoğan's long-held dream of a national automobile aligns with his broader vision for Türkiye's economic ascendancy. The Togg T10X, as the first fruit of this vision, reflects Türkiye's strides in technological and economic development. The ambitious goal of producing one million vehicles across various segments by 2030 positions Türkiye as a formidable player in the global automotive industry.
